  1. tannerrank1- It will only be a shank if the handle/grip gets away from the body or gets away and up in relation to the body and the ground. The video shows the golfer how to do the swing correctly. Please make sure you are aware that this video is for people with flatter shoulder turns in the backswing. I do not recommend this for a person who turns the shoulders more steeply. thank you.

  2. He’s teaching you how to hit a hozzle rocket.

  3. #fail disagree but peace if it works for you

  4. inofbounds- thank you for the feedback and great to hear your hook is gone.

  5. Thank you sir! You saved my golf! Bye bye snap hook! I’ve been firing my hips so fast my arms weren’t participating at all.

  6. mrcgeraldes- I suggest shortening your driver. This should give you more centered hits and it should give you more forward tilt from the waist at address. More forward tilt will get your shoulders rotating more around your spine than flatly. This is more like the natural position of the iron which you hit better. This is the best I have without seeing your golf swing.

  7. Andrea- thank you.

  8. swbush4- as stated in other comments, this video is for flatter shoulder turns in backswing. If this golfer (flatter shoulder turn) pulls handle of club down, he/she will leverage into the ground & shift weight. This is how the flatter-shoulder-turn golfer can create power. Similarly, that same golfer may FEEL like he/she starts with feet. Different golfers feel different things. This video may come across as “the only way” but it’s not like that. It depends on backswing and personal feel.

  9. athleticgolftraining- Thank you much for the positive feedback.

  10. Thank you for the inquiry and comments. Please understand that this video is for golfers with flatter shoulders. I have another video for golfers with steeper shoulders who turn around spine in backswing. Yes, the hips move first if shoulders are steeper. However, MANY golfers turn shoulders flatter and then need to pull club down with hands so the weight shifts (hips move) more laterally. This video is geared to them.

  11. geansai333- Thank u for question. Points for clarity: 1) Arms do not move first, hands move first. Pulling your hands shifts your hips diagonally & laterally toward the lead foot. Then the hips can rotate/clear aggressively. If you had a hook, it was good advice to clear hips faster; you already had the lateral part. 2) This video is for golfers with flatter shoulder turns in backswing. If turning around spine with steeper shoulders, downswing sequence changes. See my other video on this.

  12. This is great stuff and I afree with andrea ans mozzman. Just one more simple and important thing. Would this ideally be the same for the driver??

I kind of get huge truble with the driver anot not with the irons.. the lenght of the shaft just messes my mind completely and all shots are with huge slice or hooked or I hit the ground its just horrible

  13. Ben Hogan may disagree with this. The downswing should be started from the ground up, allowing the club to be pulled on plane. Start with the hands first and you are probably going to be losing a considerable amount of power.

    Great great tip!

  15. I would very much like to see a response to this comment. Having played golf hopefully for years, I am more and more questioning the various things I’ve been told in lessons etc. Moving the arms first is very much news to me.
In fact, my last lesson even told me that to cure my hook, I would have to work on clearing my hips first.. you seem to be saying I needn’t bother.. confused.

  16. aren’t the hips suppose to move first? That’s what I’ve been gathering from nearly all the videos on youtube describing the downswing..even leadbetter himself said to shift the hips first, beginning the downswing from the ground up, and then the shoulders and arms follow.

  17. SuperMozzman- Thank you very much for the positive feedback. Please keep me posted on your progress.

  18. Andrea- Thank you very much for the compliment. Keep on the lookout as we will have some great news coming for you at the end of June/beginning of July. There will be a bunch of new tips and info for students.

  19. Patrick-Your comment is quite an honor. Youtube does not allow us to post url addresses into these comments. However, if you google “samurai golf swing” it will take you to a helpful swing site. Also, feel free to contact me directly via email or facebook or twitter.

  20. I want to say, this is the best demonstration of the golf swing model I have ever seen and used for teaching my students….Where can I get more information on this idea

    wow very detailed video

  22. Really great video, m downswing has been troubling me for a long time with an inability to drop into the slot and retain wrist lag. I’m anxious to try this out by practicing the half shot ‘rotation only’ shot and then graduating up to the full shot afterwards. Brilliantly explained and demonstrated – thankyou.

  23. Miguel- Thank you for the positive feedback. Glad you are finding this helpful. Feel free to explore our other videos and check the websites. We have a great free ebook and more videos coming soon for you and all the others who want to improve.

  24. John-Thank you very much for the detailed and positive feedback.

  25. This is an excellent coaching video. OTT and Scooping are two very prevalent mistakes that golfers make. Along with those, short Pitches and Chips are also troublesome. This video addresses all of these errors and does a very good job, both visual and oral. Thanks for a great video.
